Rated 3 out of 5 by from Now that it’s done I love it, but a pain to instal I love that I was able to install myself and achieve the look I wanted. But this was a pain to install. They make it look easier than it is in the instructions and video. It took about 50 tries to get the wire fed from one hole to the other. Not an easy task when there is insulation in the wall. And one thing that wasn’t mentioned in the instructions, but I was reminded in installation, is that your outlets likely have horizontal wires that attach one to the other. I wasn’t real comfortable feeding the wires across that. I purchased two sets of these, but I’ll be taking my second set back as that room has paneling and these don’t install into paneling. It would be easy to include an adapter for paneling. It’s something you should think about doing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for wall mounting a TV. Finally decided to mount my TV to the wall. Unfortunately, I learned the hard way that I have plaster walls. This made installation a huge hassle. Because of this, I found the hole-saw that came with it useless for this, as it wasn't good enough to get through that much material - even when coupled with a hammer drill. I ended up using two additional hole-saws for my application, but that is not the fault of this kit. If I had drywall this would have been much more simple and could probably have used the included hand hole-saw. After getting past those issues, this kit was perfect for running in-wall power and hiding a few HDMI cables. I also painted the rings to match the color of the wall.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Overall great concept, initially a pain to install I initially bought this product due to the “ease” of installation boasted on the packaging. Everything was going great until it came time to fish the power cord through the holes I cut. (At this point I was committed, so no going back.) The first difficult task I encountered was getting the supplied fish tape fed through the hole to line up and come out the other end. An exterior wall with insulation poses quite the obstacle. After several attempts I successfully retrieved the fish tape (I had to fit what I could of my hand through the hole to blindly feel for the fish tape) and inserted the power cord onto the hook of the fish tape. As I pulled the power cord through the hook became straightened and released the power cord. Now I had to retrieve a half fed power cord through one end and the damaged fish tape through the other. Attempt #2: I successfully fed the fish tape through, same issue as before, connected the power cord to the the hook, but this time I used twist ties to assist keeping the power cord and hook together. As I retrieved the fish tape I could feel the insulation pulling, tearing, and bunching up inside my wall. Just as the fish tape neared the exit hole the hook broke. Lucky for me the cord was there and I pulled the line through. Now I needed to pull my HDMI cords through, but thanks to the bunched up insulation in my wall I cannot get the fish tape fed from one hole to the other. Frustrated and 1.5 hours in on a .5 hour project I gave up. Time to re-engineer this concept and find a way to be able to watch TV with a successful wall mount sans exposed cables. Concept = 5 stars. Ease of installation = 1 star!

Can I plug in a surge protector to the top connector and mount it behind my tv to plug in my soundbar? Or is this not safe to do?

Isn't AFCI protection still required per NEC?? Currently installing in Massachusetts which follows NEC 2023 code

Hello John, Yes, per Article 210.12 of the NEC all 120-volt, single-phase, 15- and 20-ampere branch circuits supplying outlets or devices installed in dwelling unit kitchens, family rooms, dining rooms, living rooms, parlors or libraries shall have Arc-fault circuit protection. This should have no impact on the installation of the CMK-70 based on the code requirements for the means of AFCI protection as detailed below. The AFCI protection per the code must be at the panel board or located at the 1st outlet on a circuit. 210.12 (A) Means of Protection. AFCI protection shall be provided by any of the following means. (1) A listed combination-type arc-fault circuit interrupter, installed to provide protection of the entire branch circuit (2) A listed branch/feeder-type AFCI installed at the origin of the branch-circuit in combination with a listed outlet branch-circuit type arc-fault circuit interrupter installed at the first outlet box on the branch circuit. The first outlet box in the branch circuit shall be marked to indicate that it is the first outlet of the circuit. (3) A listed supplemental arc protection circuit breaker installed at the origin of the branch circuit in combination with a listed outlet branch-circuit type arc-fault circuit interrupter installed at the first outlet box on the branch circuit where all of the following conditions are met: a. The branch-circuit wiring shall be continuous from the branch-circuit overcurrent device to the outlet branch-circuit AFCI. b. The maximum length of the branch-circuit wiring from the branch-circuit overcurrent device to the first outlet shall not exceed 15.2 m (50 ft) for a 14 AWG conductor or 21.3 m (70 ft) for a 12 AWG conductor. c. The first outlet box in the branch circuit shall be marked to indicate that it is the first outlet of the circuit. (4) A listed outlet branch-circuit type arc-fault circuit interrupter installed at the first outlet on the branch circuit in combination with a listed branch-circuit overcurrent protective device where all of the following conditions are met: a. The branch-circuit wiring shall be continuous from the branch-circuit overcurrent device to the outlet branch-circuit AFCI. b. The maximum length of the branch-circuit wiring from the branch-circuit overcurrent device to the first outlet shall not exceed 15.2 m (50 ft) for a 14 AWG conductor or 21.3 m (70 ft) for a 12 AWG conductor. c. The first outlet box in the branch circuit shall be marked to indicate that it is the first outlet of the circuit. d. The combination of the branch-circuit overcurrent device and outlet branch-circuit AFCI shall be identified as meeting the requirements for a system combination–type AFCI and shall be listed as such. (5) If metal raceway, metal wireways, metal auxiliary gutters or Type MC, or Type AC cables meeting the requirements of 250.118, with metal boxes, metal conduit bodies and metal enclosures are installed for the portion of the branch circuit between the branch-circuit overcurrent device and the first outlet, it shall be permitted to install a listed outlet branch-circuit type AFCI at the first outlet to provide protection for the remaining portion of the branch circuit. (6) Where a listed metal or nonmetallic conduit or tubing or Type MC cable is encased in not less than 50 mm (2 in.) of concrete for the portion of the branch circuit between the branch-circuit overcurrent device and the first outlet, it shall be permitted to install a listed outlet branch circuit type AFCI at the first outlet to provide protection for the remaining portion of the branch circuit.

What are the dimensions of this product? PVC piping was already installed in the wall for this, so want to make sure it would work. I need the diameter of the saw (or hole in the wall), the depth of the unit (or how far in it sticks into the wall).

I want to hang my TV on the wall above my gas fireplace insert. Can I use this kit or will the heat from the fireplace present an issue?

Hi Dave, The use of the CMK70 above a fireplace while not forbidden, poses the following challenges and questions. For starters, our product is intended to be mounted between two vertical studs. A power cord is provided to connect the lower module into a standard wall mounted outlet. The provided cord must be utilized and not substituted. Is there an outlet available above the fireplace, if not how will the provided cord be routed to the nearest outlet? Second, Does the TV manufacturer approve of the installation of their product above the fireplace? Third, Does the Mounting Hardware manufacturer approve of their product being mounted above the fireplace? Ultimately, If the TV and Mounting Hardware manufacturer approve of the installation and our product is capable of being installed in compliance with our installation instructions, then I do not foresee any issues. As this is a unique installation, I would recommend consulting a professional installer.

Can a LG CX OLED plug work with this?

The top grommet assembly accepts television plugs up to a maximum width of 1-1/8". If the plug is angled or rotated 90 degrees it will not fit the plug in the grommet. To resolve this, a short extension cord with straight blade plug can be used to plug into the grommet. The television plug can then plug into the female end of the extension cord.

Can you use this product in a plaster wall?

Hello, This product is designed to be used in typically 2x4 framed wall construction with 1/2" thick drywall. It should work if the plaster isn't thicker than 1/2".

I have a plaster wall that is about an 1-3/8" thick. Can I use longer screws for the locking tabs? about 1" cement plaster, 3/8" gypsom board.

Hello, The concern with using a longer is that screw the wing will be too far away from the housing, which includes a stop for the wing. When the wing gets too far away and doesn't hit the stop, there is no way to keep the wing from just rotating with the screw instead of traveling down the screw to fasten against the wall. Unfortunately this product wouldn't work for the type of wall construction you have.

How do you assemble the hole saw? the bolt doesn't come apart from the drill bit so I see no way to secure it to the saw part.
