Questions & Answers

I have my switch pack and ELCU on an emergency circuit. I know that my normal power sense has to come off the non EM circuit but can my switch sense wire come off the EM circuit or does it share a neutral with the normal power sense?

Asked by: thomas giner
The switch sense lead connets to the output of a switch controlling the normal lighting, so that the ELCU can make the EM fixtures follow the state of your normal lighting. If you don't need the EM fixtures to be ON as part of your Normal lighting, you can simply cap off the switch sense wire. Please refer to the wiring diagrams in the ELCU-100 documentation, which can be found here: https://www.legrand.us/lighting-controls-and-systems/lighting-control-panels/accessories/emergency-lighting-control-unit/p/elcu-100?text=ELCU-100

I have about 20 ELCU 200 controllers installed in a building that I am recently moving into managing. I do not seem to be able to control the light that are connected to most of them. All 3 leds are lit on the controllers that I can't get to respond.

Asked by: Patrick
All three led’s being solid on at the ELCU-200 indicates the following: Remote Activation (Solid Red) - Emergency lighting should be on from three conditions: Open Blue test switch loop, ELCU Test button being pressed, or voltage absent from Switch Sense wire. Normal Power (Solid Yellow) - Normal Power is present. Emergency Power (Solid Green) - Emergency Power Present. If the Blue test loop is closed and the Test button is not being pressed, the Control Device should be operating BOTH Emergency and Normal fixtures together. Can this device be installed inside a junction box or enclosure? Installation instructions do no specify.

Asked by: Roger
It is designed to be mounted on the exterior of the Junction box. It can be mounted inside the box, but should be mounted so that the ELCU's ventilation holes are not obstructed.

The light fixture is controlled with a occupancy sensor that has 4 wires, hot in and out, neutral in and out. Do we connect the neutral from the emergency control unit to the out neutral of the occupancy sensor?
