is this box rated for Kitchen counter top?
Hello Danny,
We have not designed or listed any units for use in countertops.
The Code states that only receptacle assemblies listed for use in counter tops shall be installed in counter tops.
The DQFF20UST assemblies were only subjected to a spill test (8 ounces) which covers the use in a normally dry use work area surface (example: office desk).
The product was not evaluated for use in countertops (kitchen or bathroom). Therefore, this product does not comply with 406.5 (E). It complies with 406.5 (F).
(E) Receptacles in Countertops. Receptacle assemblies for installation in countertop surfaces shall be listed for countertop applications. Where receptacle assemblies
for countertop applications are required to provide ground-fault circuit interrupter protection for personnel in accordance with 210.8, such assemblies shall be permitted
to be listed as GFCI receptacle assemblies for countertop applications.
(F) Receptacles in Work Surfaces. Receptacle assemblies and GFCI receptacle assemblies listed for work surface or countertop applications shall be permitted to be installed in work surfaces.
Products listed for use in kitchen or bathroom countertops are subjected to a Mechanical Endurance Test (6,000 cycles of the pop-up operation) and a spill test that utilizes 1/2 gallon of saline solution.
