Questions & Answers

How would I make this fire rated from the bottom? I am using it on a second floor from the 1st, but need to make it fire rated between the floors. Is there a legrand product to put on the bottom to do that?

Asked by: Frank
Hi, That part has a 2 hour fire rating to it as long as installation instructions are followed. There is nothing extra that should be needed. Thanks,

Can your fire rated poke thrus be used in older archaic concrete block floor construction (1940s) I believe the term is block and beam but I a not sure. It seems to me the fire resistive ring would end up in the concrete block void area

Asked by: Pete
Hi Pete, The fire-rating only applies to D900 slab construction. If you use a poke-thru, you will need to consult the AHJ for recommended installations in this type of floor. Thanks,

If you do not populate all of the penetrations to the poke through does it matter if the blank plate is installed inside the poke through or does it need to installed under the poke through to maintain the fire rating?

Asked by: Daunte Neal
Hi Daunte, To maintain the fire classification of the poke thru any unused compartments need to be fully populated with a blank plate for both, the top and bottom, compartments. Thank you,

Does Legrand have any details on how to maintain the fire rating in situations were all service access point are not used. Example, if you are using a 8AT device and only use (1) power duplex and (1) dual data plates.

Asked by: Daunte Neal
Hello Daunte, Legrand Wiremold 4ATC, 6ATC, 8ATC and 10ATC Evolution Series Poke Through devices are classified by Underwriters Laboratories Inc. as Outlet Boxes and Fittings for Fire Resistance (CEYY.R8209) and (QBWY.R8209). Legrand Poke Through devices are for use with 1, 1-1/2, 2 hour rated unprotected reinforced concrete floors and 1, 1-1/2 or 2 hour rated floors employing unprotected steel floor units and concrete topping (D900-Series Designs), or concrete floors with suspended ceilings. As detailed within the installation instructions, each compartment of the Poke-Thru device requires the installation of a bottom feed plate(s) (ex: 1PTHA) and fully populated device mounting plate(s) or blank device mounting plate(s) to comply with the requirements of the fire resistance certification. The UL fire classification is only applicable to a fully assembled poke through assembly; comprised of the poke through stem, poke through cover, bottom feed plates and fully populated or blanked off device plates. The product is subjected to UL fire testing without any junction boxes being attached to the unit and wires hanging freely through the bottom feed plates. All bottom feed plates utilize intumescent material that in addition to the upper housing intumescent material ensure that the poke through device maintains the rating of the floor in which it installed. No additional fire stopping material is utilized during the fire test performed at UL. The assembled poke through stem and service fitting will not reduce the ratings of the floor assembly when the thickness and type of concrete (required for the specific rating) are within the specified limits and the fittings are installed in compliance with Legrand Wiremold's installation instructions.

I need to feed a conference room table with a poke through to the table leg. The leg is rectangle in shape and will accept an 8-1/4" surface. I need to feed HDMI for AV, (4) category 6 data cables with power separated. What is your best option for this?

Asked by: T Gable
Hello, The 6ATCFF is a furniture feed style poke-thru with a 3/4" trade size screw plug opening for power and a 2" trade size screw plug for low voltage. The overall cover diameter is 7 3/4". Our website has additional details which can be found by searching this part number at www.legrand.us. Thank you
