Instead of a bulky charger, there's just a USB C cable coming out of the wall and it's so fast, and it looks so clean. I saw this installed at someones home and tried it and knew j had to get it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by John D from Great outlet, but may not fit in all J-boxes I love the design of this outlet and it works great. The unit is pretty deep though, and it didn’t fit in the location where I tried to install it because my junction boxes have fairly large cable clamps on the back of the box. This may be better suited for newer construction. The outlet was easy to install though, other than not being able to fit it in the junction box.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Wirewalker25 from Usb Charger good, outlets hard to plug in. I installed this in my 10 year olds room so that he would always have a charger in there. The usb-c ports work great and charge fast however, the actual outlets sent the greatest. I have to use a significant amount of force to get things plugged in. This is ok for like a lamp or clock that you leave in but if you wanted to put this in the kitchen or living room you would have issues. This is not tamper resistant, those are also a pain. I’m not sure if it’ll get easier as time goes on but it’s something to think about.

And for those of us who have been plugging in our smartphones, tablets, digital cameras, Bluetooth speakers, etc. with the standard USB connectors for annums, the smaller USB charging cables that are showing up more and more with newer devices, can seem like an unwanted curveball. Does this just mean needing more cords and multiple adapters to power all our various devices? Well, it can actually mean more performance and convenience. This is a case where change is better. Here's why: First and foremost, you can benefit from USB Type-C's high-speed specs. The majority of USB Type-C ports are designed to work with a more rapid standard–––the USB 3.1 Gen 2 protocol–––than most of the Type-A options. This standard boosts the speed for both data delivery, say for the next time you’re downloading a movie, and for charging when getting those beloved phones to a full battery. Added to this, many USB-C devices also support Thunderbolt 3, which is a super-rapid data-transfer technology from Intel, as well as USB Power Delivery (USB PD), which increases power potential drastically for faster charging and efficient powering of much larger devices. While making the most of these rapid features requires the use of the right accessories as discussed in an earlier post, it's important to know that USB-C isn’t just newer, it can be better. USB-C charging A second key advantage over the older USB style, It’s reversible. This may seem too simple to matter that much, but as many persons feel that they can never plug a Type-A USB in the correct way on the first try, it’s bound to save a lot of time and frustration. Also, the connector itself is smaller. When you consider the value placed on mobility these days, it's important for devices to do a lot without getting heavy. Smaller but powerful connection ports are one of the ways engineers can ensure lighter laptops, smaller phones, and find more space for additional tech features. Can I use this outlet as a miiddle of the run outlet? I am used to an outlet having 2 hot and 2 neutral connections in order to do so and this does not.

My home has neutral but no ground wiring for electrical outlets. Would these USB C charging outlets still work?

A Ground connection is required for the USB receptacle to work and to also maintain it's UL listing.
