Questions & Answers
What is the testing frequency of the standard hospital grade plug. What does the manufacturer recommend?
Hello,
Health Care Facilities should follow all applicable state and local requirements as well as NFPA 99 article 6.3.3.2. The manufacturer suggests a testing frequency based on expected usage and past history of testing in-use receptacles.

Torque specifications for 8300 series hospital grade receptacles?
14 to 16 inch pounds.

The PE specifies a hospital grade receptacle in a hospital office that's not a Patient Care Space. Does the hospital grade receptacle have to be connected with a NEC Section 517.13 Wire Method or is it permissible to use another wire method?
From our stand point this is a call for the AHJ and/or Hospital administration group – here’s why.
I believe they can use conventional wiring system (non-HG), but due to green dot on the device it implies it is suitable for patient care.
If AHJ and Hosp. Admin. agree this space could never be used / converted into patient care they may allow it.
If there is any chance it could be converted I would suggest using Fed Spec rated receptacles (no HG marking) that have same rugged construction but have not formally gone thru the abusive abrupt plug removal and ground contact abuse tests.
This would notify any remodeler that rewiring was needed.
Hope this helps,
