We have not performed any UL testing with this arrangement of product, so we cannot propose any recommended spacing.

Thank you for your question regarding TRADEMASTER CFL/LED/INCANDESCENT SINGLE POLE/3-WAY TOGGLE DIMMER, LIGHT ALMOND(Model # TDCL453PLA). The back body of this dimmer is slightly larger than a standard toggle switch but it will still fit into any standard size electrical box.
